ACHERON Is Back! - December 27, 2010

Last May, ACHERON founder/bassist/vocalist Vincent Crowley announced that the band was calling it quits and that it would not be doing any more shows or making any more albums. It was a surprise to both fans and bandmembers alike, considering ACHERON had just released a well-received CD called "The Final Conflict: Last Days Of God", filmed its first official music video for "I Am Heathen" and was on the verge of taking part in a slew of other projects, including another studio recording, a DVD release and a variety of shows and festival dates.

So what happened to cause the band's breakup? It seems that a lot of things went down before "the shit finally hit the fan," according to a posting on ACHERON's MySpace page. Crowley states, "There is too much involving the whole reason for the band's demise. All I can say is that there were a lot of misunderstandings, including a lack of communication and some actions that were done. The end result of it all pretty much killed my will to continue the band."

After almost a year, the smoke has cleared and the negative things between the bandmembers have been worked out. Crowley, Kyle Severn (drums) and Max Otworth (guitar) have decided to re-open Hell's Gate and invoke the music beast ACHERON once again. Crowley comments: "I really didn't think I would do ACHERON again. Before the band broke up I was working with a talented bunch of new musicians, but the vibe just wasn't there. I couldn't play without having that vibe. Now that almost everyone from the last studio lineup has agreed to work together again, I am totally on board and open to any ideas regarding this musical entity!"

Adds Severn: "I am happy as hell that we were able to put aside the unfortunate B.S. band politics/drama that sometimes can arise; hell, even worse when you're not even sure why it even happens. Especially when Vince and I, who have been jamming together for 10 years and have been friends even longer, are able to continue to go forward. It is a great metal pleasure to announce that we are going to be able to play for the ACHERON friends and fans and to continue working forward on the next piece of pure aggression that we call ACHERON. Yes, we will be moving at our own pace, but the important issue is that we will be moving forward. Late last year we were working on new material and can't wait to bust out the rehearsal tapes and start reviewing our next installment of Blasphemy and Apocalypse."

So what is the next chapter of the band? Are they doing a new album? Will there be any touring or festivals booked? Crowley says: "We are taking things one step at a time. We are not rushing into anything or getting pressured into doing things until we all agree they are worth doing. What I can say is that we have agreed to re-open Pandora's Box. Hopefully all the vile diabolical things that spew forth from it with be worthy of the actions of ACHERON."

ACHERON: 1988 - 2010 - April 25, 2010

Vincent Crowley, frontman for Ibex Moon Record's ACHERON, has issued the following statement regarding the band's future:
"After 22 years of existence, Black/..Death/Thrash Metal band ACHERON are calling it quits! The band has released 5 original full length cds, 3
mini-cds, 1 cover-tribute cd and a number of other underground releases. ACHERON will end on a familiar note by doing one last run of “RITES OF THE BLACK MASS” shows until January 1st, 2011. After that ACHERON will be done for good! (No more shows or albums.) So keep an eye out for select shows that they will be appearing at this year, because it will be the last time you get to see them live! The line-up for the final shows will be Vincent Crowley (Vocals/Bass), Art Taylor (Guitar), Eric Stewart (Guitar) and Scott Pletcher (Drums). Promoters interested in booking ACHERON for their THE LAST RITES (Farewell Shows) 2010, contact us on MYSPACE or at vincentcrowley@hotmail.com."

ACHERON rounds out lineup with brutal guitar duo - February 13, 2010

This week, Black/Death Metal warriors ACHERON have officially added two new guitarists to the band. Lead guitarist Art Taylor, who has been working with the band for close to a year now, and guitarist Eric Stewart. Taylor came to ACHERON from WEHRWOLFE and Stewart was in MANGLED FAITH and INFERNAL FAITH. Years ago the two played in a KING DIAMOND/MERCYFUL FATE tribute band called THEM.

Founder and frontman Vincent Crowley said “This band has gone through an evolutionary process since day one. It just gets better and better as time moves on. We were very pleased with the last album THE FINAL CONFLICT: Last Days of God and knew we really needed two killer guitarists who lived in our general area to work on the next ACHERON releases. Art who had already been working with us, introduced me to Eric. Those two together are a force to be reckoned with! We can’t wait to unleash some new studio recordings to the fans.”

Former guitarist Maximus Otworth couldn’t continue in the band, due to him living too far away. He is presently playing in the band THE EDDINGTON LIMIT.

Vincent Crowley also commented “Max did a great job while working with us and we only wish him the best of luck. He’s a talented young guitarist that he has a lot to offer the Metal world.”

Fans who wish to welcome Art Taylor and Eric Stewart into ACHERON can do so by going to their official MYSPACE page at www.myspace.com/acheron.

ACHERON booked for Central Illinois Metal Fest 2010 - January 5, 2010

It is official, Black/Death Metal fiends ACHERON have been booked for the 2010 C.I.M. fest! This will be the first time ACHERON has played this festival and the band is very much looking forward to it.

In 1991, ACHERON released their Satanic ground-breaking album “RITES OF THE BLACK MASS”, which was the first time this blasphemous psychodrama was ever set to music! The Black Pope himself (Anton Szandor LaVey) declared ACHERON to be one of the few real Satanic bands in the world in his last published book “SATAN SPEAKS”. Needless to say, this album has become an underground cult classic and is still hailed today!

Due to the overwhelming response of “THE LAST RITES” shows done a couple of years ago, when ACHERON played the whole “RITES OF THE BLACK MASS” album in its entirety, the band has agreed to do one last show at the C.I.M. Fest. In fact, ACHERON also plans to perform the whole Black Mass on stage and film it for what will hopefully be an upcoming dvd release.

So to all you underground metal fans and unholy Satanic warriors, you are invited to come to the Sabbath! This may be the last time you ever get to see ACHERON play and perform the “RITES OF THE BLACK MASS” live! Come one, come all! Ad Maiorem Satanae Gloriam!

ACHERON Gig Recap "The Final Conflict" is Near - November 12, 2009

This just in from Acheron vocalist/bassist Vincent Crowley:

“Acheron has just returned from a long weekend with three shows in the Midwest. This was the first time Acheron has ever played Chicago,
Madison and Milwaukee (with the exception of Milwaukee Metal Fest). These three days of pure aggressive, satanic death metal were to support our upcoming November 23rd U.S. release of The FinalConflict: Last days of God on Ibex Moon Records. We would like to send out unholy praises to The Firewalk Group in Milwaukee, Viva La Muerte Productions in Chicago, and The NYDM for saving the show in Madison (No thanks to local douche bag Tom for almost fucking up the show). A big hails to Cardiac Arrest for supporting us this weekend, as well as all the bands that played and all the true metal supporters.”

And in case you forgot:

Blasphemous death metallers ACHERON have signed with Ibex Moon Records for the US release of The Final Conflict: Last Days of God.
Founding bassist vocalist Vincent Crowley had this to say about the signing:

"We (ACHERON) have really been wanting to have someone license our new
album "The Final Conflict: Last Days of God" in the United States to help give us more of a push in our own country. When Ibex Moon stepped up and signed a deal with Displeased Records we were very excited. John McEntee from Ibex Moon has really put his label company on the
map. Ibex Moon has great distribution and has been releasing excellent albums from killer bands. Our goals are to start promoting the new album as much as possible and get this new musical creation to all the American Metal fans! And as we do this, we hope for all the fans to
show their support and actually go out and buy a copy of the new CD.Don’t let downloading replace the option of buying CDs! We promise those who get the new album won’t be disappointed in their purchase."

The album, the band's first in six years, is out now in Europe and will be released on November 23rd in the US. Drummer Kyle Severn (INCANTATION) shares his thoughts on the album, as well as his band's new US home:

"It is awesome to have yet another release out on Ibex Moon Records: Acheron "Final Conflict...Last Days of God". We have a license deal though Ibex Moon for the USA. We are happy to be a part of Displeased Records for Europe, but we needed distribution for this record in the
USA. This record by far is one of the best records I've been a part of. It is full of energy and has that great old school death/black feeling that the metal community has been missing. We are the missing link that Ibex Moon has needed! We will also be following this release with some shows and s full world 2010 touring!”

Over 20 years in existence and the fires are still burning bright! Sinister Black/Death Metal band ACHERON is still creating dark music for the Apocalypse. Lyrically, these diabolic beasts spew forth unholy gospels, which contain anthems of hate, occultic dealings, disdain for white-light religions and the rejoicing of sin and lust! This underground war machine has grown into a stronger and much more powerful musical entity as years have passed. Presently, members include band founder Vincent Crowley (Vocals and Bass), Kyle Severn (Drums) and Maximus Otworth (Lead and Rhythm Guitar). In March 2009, ACHERON added Art Taylor (ex-WEHRWOLFE) as a 2nd Guitarist. After almost six years since the release of their last full-length album, ACHERON has unleashed a new studio assault called The Final Conflict: Last Days of God! It was released on April 30th, 2009 (Walpurgisnacht) on Displeased Records in Europe and on November 24th through Ibex Moon Records in the US.
