HOD Announces New Guitarist‏ - October 18, 2011

Texas death metal maniacs Hod are proud to announce the addition of Erika Tandy (Morgengrau, Bracaglia, ex-Ignitor) as second guitarist. Known for her impressive vocal work running the gamut from neoclassical (Autumn Tears) to traditional heavy metal (Ignitor, Bracaglia), Erika is also a guitarist who fronts her own death metal unit, Morgengrau. "This was an opportunity I could not turn down," she says. "Hod is a first class band and brothers in arms. I'm honored to be a part of the band and ready to start the destruction!"

Hod guitarist Carl "Necron" says "I have known Erika for some time and I know she is dedicated to metal. She has a great attitude and ferocious playing style. We look forward to playing more shows and destroying more souls with her!"

Erika will join the band next month when they take part in this year's Goregrowler's Ball, which runs November18th - 20th in San Antonio, TX. Hod will perform on Saturday, November 19th. She will also take part in the recording of Hod's highly-anticipated second full-length album, Book Of Worms. HOD issues tour update - March 11, 2010

As expected, the mini-tour featuring Ibex Moon Records' HOD and GRAVEHILL was a whirlwind of brutality that left the state of Texas in shambles. Over the course of three shows the Ibex Moon labelmates set a new standard for live intensity as each band delivered some of the best extreme metal in the underground today. HOD guitarist Carl "Lord Necron" Snyder issued this summary of the slaughter:

"The Texas onslaught with GRAVEHILL has been merciless. P.A. Systems crashing to ground. Women beating women. Men beating men. Holy hell it's been brutal! GRAVEHILL's death metal assault has to be wtinessed live to understand the brutality. HOD has unleashed some new songs on this tour including "Under Tyranny's Hammer" and "Walking Wounded." The crowd resonse has been killer for the new material. We hope to see all you maniacs out on the road soon."
HOD's Serpent was released last year on Ibex Moon Records, an album that Zero Tolerance called a “venomous explosion of black, death, and thrash metal fury” and Terrorizer called “non-commercialised, uncompromising and slightly unhinged death metal."

HOD Bassist Leaves Band for Health Reasons - November 12, 2009

We were just informed of the following news about Hod bassist Derrick Rivers leaving the band to focus his efforts on battling cancer.
Vocalist Beer Reebs shares the following information about Rivers, as well as other Hod happenings.

“Our original bassist Dirty Derrick has been battling cancer and thus far has been successful. However, he was recently informed that it had come back in his liver and possibly his lungs and will begin treatment for it again within a few weeks. He’s decided in the interest of his health, that he will be hanging up the bass to focus on taking care of himself. Although the band hates to see him go we all completely understand and support his decision to do so. His last performance with Hod will be this Saturday, November 14th, at The Goregrowler's Ball 3 in San Antonio, TX at The Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar. Taking Dirty Derek's place on the bludgeoning four strings will be Trans Am from the Austin, TX based grindcore band, Pleasant Valley. His first live performance with Hod will be Saturday December 5th at Downtown Music in Littlerock, AR with Deadbird and Vore."

“In other Hod news, I’m pleased to announce that the band is four songs into the second full length album and follow up to /Serpent/. It is scheduled for recording in early 2010 and set to be recorded at Raging Steel Fury Studios in Austin, TX by Ignitor/Agony Column guitarist Stuart "Batlord" Lawrence. It is set to be mixed and mastered at Sweden's Necromorbus Studios and released by Ibex Moon Records.”

“Finally, 2010 also has some heavy show activity coming up. We have shows lined up with bands like Gravehill, Godless Rising, Blaspherian, and legendary crossover band D.R.I., to name a few.”

ClawHammer PR and Ibex Moon Records wish all the best to Derrick Rivers in what we hope will be a victory over his illness.

Metal extremists Hod will perform at upcoming shows with Absu (Sept. 5 in Fort Worth) and Destroyer 666 (Sept. 27 in Houston). Carl "Lord Necron" Snyder comments:

"Hod will be part of two killer shows in Texas in the month of September. We will be playing with the mighty Absu on September 5 in Fort Worth, Texas, and on September 27 the wolves return to Houston, Texas with Destroyer 666! These shows promise to be ferocious. The Fort Worth show with Absu will be at the The Ridglea Theatre. Also on the bill will be doom metal masters Solitude Aeturnus, Black Metal assassins Averse Sefira, and others. Should be a killer show of Texas Metal! The Destroyer 666 show in Houston will be at the White Swan. Anyone who has seen Destroyer 666 can tell you they put on a monstrous live show. Don't miss it!"

HOD in studio working on Ibex Moon Records' debut - August 18, 2008

San Antonio, Texas-based extreme metal band HOD will release their debut album on Ibex Moon Records sometime in early 2009.

The band, comprised of members from Necrovore, Thornspawn, Exulcerate and Pillcrusher, are currently in the studio working on their debut, titled Serpent.

HOD guitarist Lord Necron issues the following update: "We have started work on the recording of our debut album for Ibex Moon Records. We are working with Stuart "BatLord" Laurence for the recording. Stuart has recorded many Texas metal bands over the years such as Thornspawn, Averse Sefira, Death Of Millions and so on. Stuart knows metal since he too has been in many bands over the years, including Agony Column and his present band Ignitor. I can tell you the recording has a very dark and brutal edge to it. The songs appearing on the record will be:

Victims
Serpent of the Nightmare Empire
Harbinger of Death
Black Rites
Demoralizer
Nine Days
God Of Darkness and Winter

It is definitely a leap forward from our demo. We plan on unleashing this beast sometime early next year."

IBEX MOON RECORDS are proud to announce the signing of HOD from San Antonio, TX. - February 18, 2008

HOD features vocalist Beer Reebs (ex-Pillcrusher, Rancid Vat), Bjorn Haga (ex-Necrovore, ex-Thornspawn) on guitars, Carl "Lord Necron" Snyder (ex-Thornspawn) also on guitars, Dirty Derick Rivers (past GG Allin) on bass and Dennis Sanders (ex-Exculcerate) on drums. John McEntee Owner of Ibex Moon Records:“HOD is a real blasphemous power house. I have known Carl and Bjorn for a long time now and jumped at the opportunity to work with them. They play aggressive and twisted black/death metal and bring in the best of the original black/death metal fundamentals without being outdated. They will forge a new standard on the future of extreme metal. I look forward to a monstrous debut album. HOD will for sure be a metal force to be reckoned with!” Carl "Lord Necron" Snyder HOD guitarist comments:“We are pleased to announce our signing to Ibex Moon Records. Ibex Moon is the label that is right for HOD. Working with a label that is run by people that are actually fans of extreme metal was a major consideration for us. So this makes a perfect union. Prepare for annihilation...You have been warned!" Check out their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/hodtheband Upcoming shows:February 29, 2008 @ Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar, 1033 Ave. B, San Antonio, TX 78215w/ Rotting Christ, Immolation, Belphagor, Averse Sephira, Hod, Disfigured April 12, 2008 @ Red Seven, 611 E. 7th St., Austin, Tx 78701w/ Hod, Gates of Enoch, Sakrefix, Adumus, Golgotha, Nosferion HOD - "You Cry And Piss Yourself" (Promo)The 3 songs on this promo offer a hellish mixture of raw, blackened Thrash with some elements of classic Speed Metal (the latter perfectly reflected in the song 'Demoralizer'), while the vocals are in an extremely convincing, Nocturno Culto type grim style. More variation / diversity is the major keyword here. Because of the overall high quality of this promo (let alone the reputation of the members involved), I bet we will get to hear a full length by Texas' newest unholy horde pretty quickly!-

Although HOD has only been active since January 2007, the members of Hod have been involved in underground metal bands for almost 20 years. Bjorn Haga was a key member of the Texas black/death metal band Necrovore, a band that influenced many bands including Mayhem, Dissection and Incantation. Their 1987 demo is considered an underground cult classic. Carl Snyder aka Lord Necron is from Thornspawn, a band who have released numerous albums over the years on Baphomet/Necropolis, Osmose Productions and Agonia Records -- and are considered to be one of the better U.S. black metal acts currently out there. Dennis Sanders of blasting metal act Exculcerate has issued a release from Comatose Music and has toured all over the United States. Beer Reebs known throughout the great state of Texas as frontman for Pillcrusher, also fronts the veteran punk Rancid Vat. Dirty Derick Rivers' claim to fame is playing in one of GG Allin's touring bands. The diverse background of the band helps create original music in an unoriginal scene.
