MASTER issues U.S. tour update - October 24, 2008

Veteran death metal band *MASTER*, currently on tour across the United States in support of their new album *Slaves to Society* (on Ibex Moon), have posted an tour update online.

A statement from bassist/singer Paul Speckmann reads: "The tour began after I arrived in Philadelphia. As always there were problems from the get go. After arriving in the USA, the airlines sent my guitar to Chicago and my bag elsewhere. I had to visit the airport twice the following morning to find the stuff. With all the governmental control here, you have to wonder how this could happen. Anyways, the practicing began with Alex Bouks and Rustin Grosse the following morning. We rehearsed three days and began in Pittsburgh. It was a cool turnout for the rehearsal show, and the energy from the crowd reminded me what I missed about America. At all the shows over the last week, the old school diehards have been showing up. People are supporting Master, buying the merch etc. It's a bit different to say the least driving around in a van, but that's the American underground. If I could say anything bad or negative, it's only that many times food is an issue and/or how often we are waiting in front of the club for the local promoters. Of course this is nothing new because this was the same back in 1996 when I toured here last. I have to thank Ibex Moon and Matt Bishop for their efforts and support in this endeavor. Too bad our driver Mike quit after his old lady called him home. I suppose touring is not for everyone. See you out on the road."

MASTER's “Slaves to Society” CD with bonus tracks to be released on Ibex Moon Records this Summer. - March 22, 2008

Ibex Moon Records is honored to be working with the legendary MASTER. MASTER originally from Chicago, IL now resides in the Czech Republic featuring members Paul Speckmann bass and vocals (Abomination, Death Strike, Speckmann Project, ex-Krabathor, Martyr (Cze), ex-War Cry, Funeral Bitch (US), Solutions, Walpurgisnacht (US)) Alex Nejezchleba lead and rythem guitars , (Shaark, Mamut (Cze)), Zdenek Pradlovsky Drums (Shaark, Kreyson). MASTER was formed in late 1983 and released 9 full length albums on Nuclear Blast, Twilight Vertrieb , Displeased, System Shock and Pavement. Paul Speckmann and Master have had an important impact on the development of extreme metal, including being a major influence on bands like Napalm Death, Death, Benediction, Terrorizer, Nausea, Carcass, Pestilence, and many more, not to mention pretty much the entire early 90's Swedish Death Metal scene.

Check out their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/masterspeckmann

John McEntee, Owner of Ibex Moon Records:"In the 80's when I started really getting into the metal underground I would have never thought one day I would be releasing a recording by one of my favorite bands and biggest influences MASTER. For me and most other die hard underground metallers in the 80's and early 90's understand the massive impact MASTER has had on the world of extreme metal. Most of the extreme bands that have gone on to massive success in the early 90's wave of death metal would be lying if they said they weren't affected one way or another by the powerful aggressive songs of MASTER. “Slaves to Society” is quite possibly MASTER'S most aggressive album released to date and I'm honored to be working with them.”

Paul Speckmann states, "This is an album that deals with the situation happening in the world today. We are all Slaves of the greater machine, just Slaves To Society.

Slaves To Society is the fastest and most interesting CD that Master has released since "On The Seventh Day". Forget listening to the many imitators of Master. There is only one true original Master, and this CD "Slaves To Society" speaks for itself."

Ibex Moon Records will be releasing MASTER's “Slaves to Society” in early Summer 2008. keep posted to the Ibex Moon Records website for the exact release date to be announced soon.

As one of the most influential bands in the history of the underground, Chicago's Master has influenced a generation of metal acts worldwide. For well over a decade, band leader Paul Speckmann has assaulted the metal world with his many projects including Abomination, Deathstrike, Funeral Bitch and of course, Master. Initially formed in late 1983, Master first saw the inside of a recording studio in the summer of '85 when they recorded an album's worth of material to shop to various US labels. Although offered a deal with Combat, internal problems and poor management decisions caused the deal to fall apart, leaving without a deal and disillusioned. Subsequently they spent the next few years working with different projects, until late '89 when a recommendation from Mitch Harris of Napalm Death led to a deal with Germany's Nuclear Blast. With seven releases through Nuclear Blast, of which three were produced by Scott Burns (Deicide, Cannibal Corpse), Master has endured all trends and remained pure. Bountiful praise from fans and contemporaries (including guest appearances on record from members of Death and Obituary) has given them true legendary status. They have toured extensively in the US and Europe with overwhelming success supporting such acts as Sepultura, Unleashed, Paradise Lost, and many others. Dozens of the world's leading metal publications including Metal Maniacs, Pit, Rock Hard and Metal Hammer have repeatedly featured them in their pages. To Master, this music is much more than just a passing phase. As Paul said in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, 'It's about life, death, politics, personal experience. The world is violent and angry, and death metal is a way to express yourself.' Armed with a new lineup and a new label, Speckmann and Co. are ready to reclaim their position in the extreme metal pantheon. The band will tour the US for the first time in a decade starting in October. You've been warned!

Alex '93' Nejezchleba - guitar
